X-ray and Ultrasound

X-rays and ultrasounds are used for diagnosing various diseases affecting the heart, lungs, bones, joints, bladder, intestines, and chest. X-rays can also be used for taking pictures while doing dentistry and during wellness exams to diagnose medical diseases before they become serious.

Here at Manassas Animal Hospital, we offer digital radiology, which are x-rays captured digitally rather than on film. Digitally captured x-rays expose pets to less radiation and are of better quality than traditional x-rays. Along with body and dental x-rays, we also perform ultrasounds and schedule appointments with specialists whenever one is required.

Since any movement during an x-ray or ultrasound can cause the image captured to be blurry, hyperactive pets are sometimes sedated to make them calm and ensure a proper image is captured. For dental x-rays, however, pets need to be put under general anesthesia in order to capture a clear image.
